For over 20 years, Japan Expo has been bringing the best of Japan and its culture to Paris, from manga to video games, and from J-Pop to traditional Japanese music. The founders of the event aimed to bring together Japan enthusiasts and invite them to celebrate all things Japanese. This year, the festival featured a number of impressive Japanese artists and idol groups. In addition to the music acts, ab(CDE)'s Nathan Gey had the opportunity to showcase his extensive professional photography work in an exhibit called "La Kpop en France." Nathan has photographed some of the most prominent acts in K-Pop, such as EVERGLOW, DREAMCATCHER, GOT7's BamBam, and more, which were featured in his special exhibit in the festival's convention hall.

Komuro Tetsuya, Nathan Gey/Japan Expo

Komuro Tetsuya was the guest of honor for music at Japan Expo 2024. He’s a famous music producer, singer, composer, lyricist, and musician. His golden era was in the 80s and 90s, known for producing and writing songs for famous Japanese singers like Namie Amuro, Ryoko Shinohara, and Ami Suzuki. He also collaborated with Yoshiki in 1990. Additionally, he composed, with TM Network, the famous City Hunter song "Get Wild." He had one showcase as a DJ where he played many famous songs for an hour, making all his French and Japanese fans feel really nostalgic. They were delighted and honored to have the chance to attend such a rare event.

Psychic Fever from Exile Tribe, Nathan Gey/Japan Expo

Psychic Fever from Exile Tribe was probably the most popular music guest at Japan Expo 2024. Formed in 2019, the 7-member J-Pop boy group is part of the collective Exile Tribe, managed by LDH Japan. Psychic Fever experienced a major boost in popularity when their song "Just Like Dat" went viral on TikTok earlier this year. At the festival, they had many performances, including a workshop with their fans on Friday morning. Their main appearance, however, was on Saturday evening for the last event on the YUZU stage, where they delivered a 45-minute showcase.

Kannagi Rabbits, Nathan Gey/Japan Expo

Kannagi Rabbits came to Japan Expo for the second time this year. They were already a music guest during the previous edition of the festival. They left a pretty good impression on all idol fans in France during their showcases at the 2023 edition of Japan Expo, so this year was really great for them. They performed every day on the TSUBAME stage (the music stage of the festival) and had the chance to perform on the biggest stage of Japan Expo, the ICHIGO stage, with a capacity of 15,000 people.

iiiidolll, Nathan Gey/Japan Expo

iiiidolll is a fresh, brand-new idol group that made their debut in 2023. Composed of six members, many of whom were already famous on social media, having started as Instagram influencers or models. Their music is classic in the Japanese idol world but resonates well with idol fans. The energy they bring to their performances gets the entire audience dancing along with them. They performed every day on different stages of the festival and left a strong impression on the audience during their first visit to France.

Moe Azuki, Nathan Gey/Japan Expo

Moe Azuki is a member of the idol group Erabareshi, but she's better known as "Moeazu" for her YouTube channel, which focuses on mukbang content. She was invited to Japan Expo as a YouTuber for this edition. Moreover, she had the opportunity to perform some of her solo songs during two separate performances.

All the idols (Kannagi Rabbits, iiiidolll and Moeazu) had the chance to conclude the festival with a show titled "YUZU IDOL PARTY" on the YUZU stage on Sunday evening, during the last hour of Japan Expo 2024.
