As part of his “[TAPE: RELOAD] in the U.S.” tour, GOT7’s JAY B performed his first solo show in Los Angeles, delivering a special performance at Avalon Hollywood that highlighted his growth as a solo artist. The tour, following his TAPE: PRESS PAUSE shows from two years ago, marks a new creative chapter for JAY B, one that emphasizes his new self-expression and style. Best known as the leader of the globally beloved group GOT7, JAY B has carved out a distinct lane in R&B and alternative K-pop through his solo releases, particularly his latest album, Archive 1: [Road Runner].
The night kicked off with a performance by Korean R&B artist Tabber, whose mellow tones set the tone for the night. JAY B then opened with “Present,” a CD exclusive track from his album Archive 1: [Road Runner]. Standing at the mic with a colorful visual behind him, he sang to fans with a soft smile, creating an intimate and vibrant atmosphere.
He quickly switched gears with “Baby” and “B.T.W,” dancing playfully across the stage and flashing a peace sign mid-performance to excited cheers. When backup dancers joined him for “FAME,” the energy surged, followed by fan-favorites “Fountain of Youth” and “Livin’,” where confetti rained down. JAY B shared, “These two songs are from my album Be Yourself… a lot of songs from that album are bright and happy.” He then put on a cowboy hat to roaring approval before launching into “The Way We Are,” pulling off impressive choreography without ever letting the hat slip.
“if you” and “Chosen” kept the mood light and emotional, with fans singing along to the bright choruses. During “Take It Easy,” dancers returned for an upbeat performance with rhythmic choreography, building into “go UP,” which ended with a dramatic hat toss and confetti burst.
JAY B shifted into a sultrier tone with “Crash,” now wearing a loose, see-through red shirt as he delivered sharper, more intense choreography. “Switch It Up” and “AM PM” followed, further turning up the sensuality with bold moves and slick visuals. After a quieter performance of “°C (Temperature)” at the mic stand, he asked the crowd which outfit they preferred, fans enthusiastically chose the one he was currently wearing.
The show continued to heat up with “Inside,” featuring sharp, charismatic moves and a memorable body roll that had the crowd cheering. “Cloud Nine” followed with a dreamy aesthetic of pink smoke and soft lighting, matching the more introspective tone of the performance. “I think this different vibe is good for me now that I’m older, right?” JAY B asked, prompting enthusiastic agreement from the audience. In a surprise moment later, he added, “I think I have to say this, but Mark is here too,” pointing to his GOT7 bandmate at the back of the venue. Mark stood up and waved as JAY B took the opportunity to also mention and praise his friend’s new song, “High As You.”
Before the encore, a VCR segment played, showing JAY B’s behind-the-scenes preparations. The words “Thank you iGOT7” appeared on screen, drawing loud cheers and emotional reactions from fans. For the encore, JAY B returned in his tour merch shirt and sunglasses, delivering a fun, playful finale with remix versions of “FAME,” “B.T.W,” and “Crash.” He closed the night with beloved GOT7 tracks “PAGE,” “THURSDAY,” “Go Higher,” and “Before The Full Moon Rises.” During “Go Higher,” he and the dancers transformed the venue into a club type vibe, complete with water bottle showers, lighthearted dancing, and playful posing.
Overall, JAY B created a vivid night of performances, showcasing his growth and appreciation for his fans through his playful charm and nostalgia. The setlist reflected his evolution as a solo artist while still acknowledging the foundation built with GOT7. With each performance, he maintained a clear connection to the fans who have supported him from the group's early days to his current solo journey.
