South Korean singer CHUU, previously part of the K-pop girl group LOONA, is about to embark on her very first tour across the USA to showcase her debut solo album, "Howl." This tour will span seven cities across the country, starting off in Los Angeles on December 3rd.
In an exclusive chat with ab(CDE), CHUU expresses her immense excitement to meet her beloved fans, referred to as 'KKOTI,' and discusses the heartfelt message behind her music.
Can you tell us about your upcoming tour in America and what fans can expect from you?
CHUU: For the first time, I can meet my official fanbase ‘KKOTI’ who’s been waiting in the States for me. In addition to the songs from my solo debut album, I am also preparing other stages that U.S. KKOTI can easily sing along to, so I hope you look forward to it in the US. I am so excited to present the songs, and I believe you will be able to enjoy a new kind of performance with an exciting energy that you haven’t seen before!
What parts of the tour are you most eager to experience? Are there any particular foods or places you’re interested in?
CHUU: First of all, I've really missed my fans, so I would like to meet them on stage as soon as possible. Other than that, the food I would like to eat the most is steak, and I would also like to visit cute shops! As this tour allows me to visit different areas within the states, I am looking forward to exploring each city’s charms and beauties.
You recently released your first mini album “Howl.” Can you share the concept and inspiration behind the release?
CHUU: Everyone experiences moments in life when they get hurt, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Through <Howl>, I wanted to depict a story of growth where two people become little heroes for each other, healing one another’s wounds. And I wish that this song can serve as hope and courage to all my listeners, in the journey of finding the little heroes within yourselves. Though looking deep within yourself may be unfamiliar and uncomfortable, I believe the process itself can help you grow.
What message or emotions do you hope to convey to your fans through your music?
CHUU: There are times when everyone feels lonely, but I want to convey the message that we are not alone, and we are always together to take care of each other.
How have you grown as an artist and how does this reflect in your journey as a soloist?
CHUU: Through various experiences and artistic projects, I was able to learn how to love my own songs. I also learned how to infuse meanings and deliver messages through music, which became much more essential in this solo debut album.
What are your future goals and aspirations with your journey as an artist?
CHUU: I hope that someday I will be invited to a global awards ceremony for my songs, and I’d love to create a stage that will become a memorable gift to all my fans who have been with me on my journey so far. And above all, I would like to create more music and sing more songs for my dear fans.
Is there a message you’d like to share with your fans?
CHUU: First and foremost, I want to say that I’ve missed you so much. And thank you for always supporting me and waiting for my music. I want to tell you that every one of you is truly precious to me. I hope all your days are happier than mine, and I love you KKOTI.
What can we expect from you next?
CHUU: Following <Howl>, I would like to release other albums that continue to capture my own unique colors. I will always do my best in creating music, so I hope you look forward to my next album!
