On Sunday night in Los Angeles, BIBI brought her first world tour, [EVE], to the YouTube Theater. Known for her sultry vocals, dark humor, and daring storytelling, she has gained recognition for a unique sound that blends R&B, hip-hop, pop, and jazz. During the show, she delivered a bold and deeply intimate show that blended the lines between concert, theater, and cinema.
To hype up the audience for the main show, independent Korean artist James An took the stage. Before his performance, James shared that he’s been translating for BIBI since Life is a Bi…. His set was laid-back yet endearing, and towards the end of his performance, James commented on the diversity of BIBI’s fanbase, noting how it reflects her global influence and unique ability to connect people from all walks of life.
Dressed in a white skirt and chic bow decorated top, BIBI opened with “Midnight Cruise,” with the stage filled with golden city visuals and shimmering lights. Her elegance and charm were immediate as she waved, danced with flair, and offered a theatrical curtsy. The mood shifted with “Hangang Gongwon,” a soulful ballad set against a dreamy sunset backdrop, revealing the emotional depth of her vocals.
In her first speaking segment of the night, BIBI discussed the “Eve” storyline, which her recent work is based on, adding with a laugh, “Did you guys watch the VCR? You have to… I spent so much money on that shit.” Though humorous, it is clear just how much effort she poured into her craft! The show opened with a retro-styled VCR reel introducing “Eve,” a famous pop star. Throughout the night, Eve’s story unfolds through a series of VCR videos. After the pop star’s tragic death, she is eventually cloned by the government as “Eve-1.” What follows is a journey of self-discovery, as the clone begins to understand how she differs from the original Eve.
Each act of the concert introduced a new mood, costume, or scene. “Scott and Zelda” placed BIBI in a whimsical library scenario, teasing and hiding from dancers posing as security guards. But BIBI also wasn’t afraid to dive into darker territory. “Burn It” introduced a sultry, provocative set featuring a bed and backup dancers in black. In “Meat,” she performed a sensual yet introspective routine, bound in red rope, referencing themes of desire, purity, and restraint. “People think Meat is very erotic,” she mused after, “but it’s very pure.”
The second half of the show included high-energy crowd favorites like the remixed “Sugar Rush” and “Hongdae R&B,” the latter filled with BIBI’s admiration for Korea’s underground hip-hop scene. She strutted the stage with confidence during “Real Man,” delivering jazz-influenced rap under red lights. “Apocalypse” and “Derre” added bursts of color and puppet-like choreography.
Through a heartfelt monologue, BIBI opened up about the societal pressures people face from youth through adulthood. “You always have expectations… You have to be a good kid, good student, good girlfriend…”, and offered fans an encouraging message: “Even if you don’t love yourself, I love you.” It was a touching moment that highlighted BIBI’s deep connection with her fans and the appreciation she holds for them.
In the final stretch of the show, BIBI brought her hits to life with impressive charisma. “BIBI Vengeance” was as fiery as ever, followed by “BAD SAD AND MAD,” “City Love”, and “Best Lover,” in which she pulled a fan from the audience on stage for a flirty yet funny interaction.
Her playfulness continued in the next segment as she walked through the venue, asking fans about their jobs, with responses ranging from tarot reader to Disneyland employee to drag queen, before eventually leading into “Fedexx Girl.” Her dancers returned in denim outfits for “She Got It,” and a fun performance of “The Weekend.”
For the encore, she returned in a white T-shirt adorned with tour state patches. With songs like “PADO” and “Bumpa,” she danced joyfully with her backup crew, introducing each one with pride. “I feel like I have to give you guys money,” she laughed addressing the fans in a final ment, “but I won’t. I’m going to give you my heart instead, to-go.” That heart arrived in the form of “Eat My Love,” a glittery, soft-lit stage where she cutely interacted with the audience.
In a single night, BIBI proved herself to be a pop star, storyteller, comedian, and philosopher, but most of all she was authentically herself. She invited fans into her world, into her questions, and into her chaos. The show overall felt as intimate as a diary and as grand as a stage play, all in true BIBI fashion.
